龍生於雲，
雲生於氣，
氣生於無。
有時，無比有更多。
因為眼前的無，能引心中的有；
而心中的有，往往無邊無際；
但眼前的有，終究有尺有寸。
然而，
若心中本無，眼前亦無，
那便真成了空空洞洞。
畫上有多少，
不只紙上筆墨之多寡，
更是胸中筆墨之有無。

Between Being and Nothingness
.
The dragon is born of clouds,
the clouds are born of breath,
and breath is born of nothing.
At times, nothing holds more than being.
For what is absent before the eyes
can summon what is present in the heart;
and what dwells in the heart
has no bounds nor edges—
while what stands before the eyes
is always measured and confined.
Yet if the heart holds nothing,
and the eyes behold nothing,
then all becomes hollow and void.
How much a painting contains
lies not only in the ink upon the paper,
but even more in the ink within one’s heart.
有と無のあいだ〉
龍は雲に生まれ、
雲は気に生まれ、
気は無に生まれる。
ときに、無は有よりも多くを宿す。
目の前に無があれば、心の中に有が生まれる。
そして心の中の有は、限りなく広がる。
けれども目の前の有は、いつも寸法の中にある。
しかし、
もし心にも無く、目の前にも無ければ、
それは本当に空っぽな虚ろである。
絵にどれほどのものがあるかは、
紙の上の筆墨の多さだけではなく、
胸の中の筆墨の有無にこそある。
