居人間而得閒；
一足垂下，
處塵世而無礙。
水中之月，
雖是倒影，
光芒卻是真的；
雲上之身，
雖未著地，
心志卻也實在。
自在，
不需離塵，
不假高玄，
而是塵中無礙。

Grace in form, light and calm.
Serenity of mind, gentle and free.
One knee raised—
at home within the human world;
one foot lowered—
at peace amidst the dust.
The moon in water,
though reflection,
its radiance is true;
the body in clouds,
though not touching earth,
its resolve remains firm.
Ease—
needing no escape from dust,
seeking no lofty realm,
but resting unbound within the world.
自在
姿は軽くしてやすらかに、
貌はおだやかにして自在なり。
片膝を上げ、
人の世に居りて閑かなり；
一足を垂れ、
塵世に処りて礙りなし。
水の中の月、
たとえ影なれど、
その光はまことに真なり；
雲の上の身、
たとえ地に着かねど、
その心はまた実なり。
自在とは、
塵を離るるを要せず、
高玄を仮らず、
ただ塵中にして礙りなきなり。
