He has watched the tides rise and fall,
yet still delights in the company of fish and shrimp.
Through wind and rain, his journey goes on;
the river moon drinks with him at Red Cliff.
Life, like a painting—rich or pale, both are true;
with blankness in the heart, the world grows wide.
寛き心
潮の満ち引きを見尽くし、
なお魚や蝦と友を楽しむ。
風雨も行脚を改めず、
江の月、赤壁に酔う。
人生は絵のごとし、濃くとも淡くとも妙なり。
胸に白を残せば、天地また寛し。
