The pocket watch remains,
the hour hand has stopped.
Once it turned with the stars,
marking the rise and fall of days and moons.
It moved within the order of human life,
and bore witness to the uncertainty of a lifetime.
Then one day,
no one looked at the hands anymore;
after it stopped,
no one wound the spring again.
Daily routines were simply placed away in a drawer.
The pocket watch remains,
time has not stopped.
止まる
懐中時計は、そこにある。
けれど、時針は動かない。
かつては星の運びに寄り添い、
昼と夜の移ろいを刻んでいた。
人の暮らしの規律に沿いながら、
人生の不確かさを静かに見届けてきた。
ある日ふと、
針を確かめる者はいなくなり、
止まってからは、
ぜんまいを巻く手も戻らなかった。
日々の営みは、そのまま引き出しにしまわれた。
懐中時計は、まだそこにある。
止まったのは、時間そのものではない。
