世間本無至圓。
月相常缺，
月表有痕。
連最安靜的月暈，
也在風裡微微顫動。
然而，
圓之美者，
不必至圓，
卻在看來如圓的感動。
況且，
月缺之處，
似無還有；
月海之影，
若虛而實。
細細望去，
亦可牽引對圓、對滿、對圓滿的脈動。
原來，
不必造極，
不必無瑕；
縱然略有缺口，
略帶空白，
也能造就圓與美的永動。

The Beauty of the Circle
.
In this world, no circle is ever perfect.
The moon is often waning,
its surface lined with traces;
even the gentlest halo
trembles softly in the wind.
And yet,
the beauty of a circle
needs no perfect roundness—
it lives in the moment
it seems complete.
For where the moon appears to lack,
there is presence within absence;
and where its seas cast shadows,
there is truth within illusion.
Gaze with patience,
and it will stir the quiet longing
for fullness, for wholeness,
for the circle not yet whole.
Thus we come to know:
perfection is needless,
flawlessness not required.
Even with small gaps,
even with quiet spaces,
the circle endures—
and its beauty moves on without end.
円の美
この世に、
まことの円はほとんど無い。
月は常に満ち欠けし、
その面には細かな痕があり、
もっとも静かな月暈でさえ、
風の中でそっと震えてゆく。
されど——
円の美しさとは、
完全なる円にあらず、
ふと「円に見える」
その一瞬のときめきに宿る。
まして、
欠けた月のほとりには、
無いようであり、ある気配が漂い、
月海の影には、
虚ろにして実なる光がひそむ。
じっと見つめれば、
円へ、満ちへ、
そして円満へと向かう
心の律動をそっと誘いだす。
やがて悟る。
極みに至らずともよい。
無傷でなくてよい。
わずかな欠けも、
ささやかな余白も、
なお円を成し、
なお美を生むのだと。
